Breakfast

I think breakfast is the most important part of the day. I don't know about you, but I hate cooking breakfast.  With every other meal, you have variety and change, but with breakfast, it seems to be the same thing every day!  So I have been looking for foods that are healthy, but filing also.

I think the biggest key is rounding out the diet to healthy.  So with each breakfast that I have, I have tried to have a fruit and veggie included.

If it's too much for you, then just remember to add a bowl of fruit at a minimum to your cereal or in your cereal.  I think the hardest time to do this is in the winter.  Living in Utah, it's hard to find fresh fruit.  My recommendation, buy small amounts and use it up! Even if that means your stopping more often at the dreaded grocery store. You will find you can use in-season stuff.  Like Oranges, and Grapefruit in the winter!  I personally am not a fan of frozen fruit, but I love them in my shakes.  My only regret is, during the winter, I would like a "warm shake!" Who wants something cold when there is snow outside.  But work with what you have.

I have also learned, that if I keep apples (for instance) in my fridge, my kids won't eat them. They will not physically go and get it, cut it up and eat it...no way! It's easier to grab a go-gurt or a cheese stick.  But if I cut them up...I got a line of kids (and only half of them are mine) with their hand out ready to have a slice! Go figure!  So slice them up folks, they will eat them!

So just plan on each day to cut up and have ready at least 3 of the following:
Berries (any kind, but best one at a time)
Bananas
Melon (again, any kind, but I don't care for them mixed too much)
Grapes
Oranges
Grapefruit (ok, this one...don't mix, just have it by itself)
